Made from precision CNC machined 1020 steel and carbonitrided to 60+Rc, our Radius Platens are great for both hollow grinds and S grinds.

Radius Platens have a curved face and are curved to be a segment of a much larger wheel, far too large to fit on a standard belt grinder.

We offer 3 different sizes of Radius Platen-

  • 36"/915mm Diameter
  • 48"/1220mm Diameter
  • 72"/1830mm Diameter

All Radius Platen are 150x50mm. We supply them with platen brackets installed for quick change over.

They are a direct replacement for the Shop Mate 48" platen, but not the larger platen on the Shop Master 2x72". For fitment to the Shop Master 72 (or for effortless change over on the Shop Mate 48) we offer a Radius Platen Support, which consists of 2x2" idler wheels and a quick change spigot to suit our standard platen arms.  

We highly recommend using our Platen Chiller with the Radius Platens, as the curve created a lot of friction and therefor heat during use.
