Our precision ground contact wheels are perfect for many tasks, from general metal shaping & stock removal to knife handle sculpting and profiling. The standard 19mm spigot included with the wheel allows for fast and efficient changing between your contact wheel and flat platen.

Contact wheels are great for rapid stock removal as the smaller diameter of the wheel opens the grain of the belt, exposing fresh grit that simply cannot be utilised in flat platen grinding.

Our billet aluminium hubs are precision CNC machined, then coated in a premium, abrasion-resistant urethane rubber – all completed in-house. The wheels are then ground concentric for a perfectly smooth and vibration free grinding experience.

The 5" contact wheel is compatible with all 84 Engineering 2x48" and 2x72" belt grinders / linishers using tooling arms included with your grinder.

a very useful addition to the 48 belt grinder

I bought the 5" contact wheel with a view to adding an adjustable rest [bevel boss] to the suite of complimentary gadgets I already have. Given at the time the latter was unavailable I settled on the contact wheel. I must say that in conjunction with the 'sait' belts, I have just concluded that this contact wheel set in its own tooling arm is just perfect when handle shaping, especially 'the coke bottle' effect. Minus the platen, I also use it in the 'slack belt' mode. Further, splitting a used 2 x 48 belt, and running the motor in the slow zone, it is very useful as a handle shape refining medium.
thanks again Mr. Gibson, a brilliant and purposive implement.
